VASCULAR WELLNESS. NOT JUST VASCULAR SURGERY.

Most vascular practices treat disease after it strikes. We built Vascular Wellness Institute around a different idea: that the best vascular outcome is the one that needs little to no intervention with lasting results. Our two founding surgeons — trained at the University of Maryland Medical Center — bring academic-level expertise to the Gulf Coast with a focus that goes beyond the procedure. We screen proactively, catch problems early, and when intervention is needed, we offer every option from minimally invasive office treatments to complex arterial reconstruction. We offer the full spectrum of vascular care and focus on keeping you well.

conditions & symptoms →

Leg pain. Swollen ankles. Varicose veins. These symptoms often point to an underlying vascular condition that may be treatable. Learn what to look for.

Treatments & procedures

From a 30-minute in-office vein procedure to complex arterial surgery, our surgeons offer the right treatment for your specific situation — not a one-size-fits-all approach.

wellness & prevention

Vascular disease rarely announces itself until it’s serious. Our prevention and screening services help you understand your vascular health before a problem becomes a crisis.

Conditions and Treatments

Leg Swelling

Persistent swelling in the legs and ankles is one of the most common — and most overlooked — signs of vascular disease. Chronic venous insufficiency, venous obstruction, and DVT can all cause it. Finding the cause is the first step to lasting relief.

Varicose Veins

Aching legs, visible veins, and chronic swelling aren’t just cosmetic — they’re signs your venous circulation needs attention. Varicose veins are highly treatable, often in a single in-office visit with no downtime. The sooner they’re addressed, the simpler the fix.

Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD)

If your legs cramp or tire during a walk and feel better when you stop, that may indicate reduced blood flow. PAD is common, underdiagnosed, and — when caught early — very manageable. Left untreated, arterial blockages can threaten your limbs and your life.

Carotid Disease

Your carotid arteries deliver blood to your brain. When plaque narrows them, stroke risk rises — often without any warning signs. A simple screening can reveal your risk. For those with significant blockage, we offer the most advanced stroke-prevention procedures available.

Aortic Aneurysms

An aortic aneurysm grows silently. Most patients have no symptoms until a rupture — which is why screening and monitoring matter so much. When intervention is needed, we offer both minimally invasive and open surgical repair, tailored to your anatomy and overall health.

Claudication

That familiar cramp in your calf or thigh that shows up on a walk and disappears when you rest has a name: claudication. It’s your arteries telling you that blood flow is limited. It’s also one of the earliest and most treatable signs of peripheral artery disease — don’t ignore it.

Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)

A blood clot in the deep veins of the leg can travel to the lungs — making it a medical emergency. If you notice sudden swelling, warmth, or pain in one leg, don’t wait. DVT is treatable when caught quickly, and long-term vascular care can prevent recurrence.

Dialysis Access

For patients on hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis, vascular access is a lifeline. We create and maintain AV fistulas and grafts as well as place laparoscopic peritoneal dialysis catheters and when complications arise, we act quickly. Your dialysis schedule shouldn’t wait.
